When I changed my fuel filter for the first time at 18k mi. I noticed a lot of dirt came out of it. I also noticed the water sensor was caked with a green sludge that had the consistency of sour cream. That explained why no fuel drained out when I opened the filter drain cock.

Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know if this is normal. My first thought is my filter/water seperator is doing it's job.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

My first thought would be you need to change the filter more often. 15k is the suggested point, I think. And if I had junk like that in mine I might be doing 10k. JMHO

I never changed my first one until 20K, and it was as clean as the new one I put in. Just depends on the quality of the fuel you are getting.
