A buddy of mine at work, has a 2002 dmax w/ 5000 miles and he says that it has happened twice and the service dept can't find a problem. While driving at highway speeds 65 to 70 mph at 2000 rpm's it begins to make a crackle sound coming from the engine and then he has noticed grey smoke. This will only last for 10 secs or so and then everything is fine..
