Have you tried calling the dealership? I just did
this yesterday and the service manager was kind
enough to run the report and fax it back to me.
The report actually had the website address where
he got the info from, but unfortunately, it's
password protected. ;)

GMC Tech,

Could I impose on you to check out the following
VIN:

1GTHK23143F109642

I'm thinking of buying this truck, so i'm
interested in its history. If it's a pain to cut
and paste the info, I'd appreciate your opinion
of the history (e.g. "too many problems with
that truck"). I'm sure you don't a lot of people
asking for VIN checks, so prefer not to, then I
understand.

THanks

Thanks MadMatt. For me, the report is not a
favorable one. Oh well, there will be other
trucks. smile.gif

it doesn't look all that bad although it does appear that it's had some sort of wiring problem since new.

I suppose the repairs can't be considered too
serious, but a couple wiring problems, transfer
case module, instrument cluster R&R, pressure
cylinder switch(?)...

Btw, this is the truck I'm looking at:

the pressure cycling switch is fairly common and I've changed out a few IPCs. reprogramming the TCMs is done everyday as well ,but I've yet to replace one as the history states. as far as the wiring problem goes, it hard to tell just from reading a VIS entry. these entries are rather vauge usually and who knows who was working on it. it might have been an easy fix for an experinced tech who deals w/ these trucks day in and day out but would simply baffle a lesser tech.
