View Full Version : MISSING O-RING?

While on a RV trip my 01 Duramax started leaking fuel (like a sieve) at 25k and change. Had it towed to the nearest Chevy dealer in Paso Robles CA. Their diagnosis and repairs are as follows (their spelling and grammer):
"Fuel leaking down rear of engine when running. Remove turbo and found fuel rail pressure sensor leaking due to missing 'o' ring. Installed gasket and 'o' rign. Reinstal led and recheck for leak, ok. Road tested 13 miles and rechecked again. No further leakes noted."
My questions are. If the O-ring was missing how come it didn't start leaking till 25,000 miles? Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thank You
Jerry

This was not an entirely uncommon problem with 2001 models. There is a crush washer inside, not an oring. The GM fix is to replace the entire function block unit with sensor, but in order to accommodate the owner, many shops are just tightening and all is well w/o any down time.
