Stalling after 5 minutes

Im a newbie here on the diesel page but what im reading is great.
I have a 1996 Chevy, 6.5 L, 3/4 ton, long box, ext cab.

When I start it up cold it idles for 5 minutes and stalls.
I start it back up and it runs fine. Sometimes it cuts out and recovers with a little black smoke.
Its never stalls during driving only at this warm up stage.

Ive changed the fuel filter and it hasn't changed anything.

Any suggestions ?

Have you gone to the members area to the trouble shooting guide?
Many test that can be done to eliminate, say OPS,lift pump ect.

Heat the FSD ( black Box on side of pump.)
with a hair dryer.


If it does not fail, most likely FSD>

Also could be " INj pump solenoid problem.

Mine would do same after 20-30 minutes, was Inj Pump.

DO READ ALL THE POSTS< MANY < MANY other things
to diognose.
