I have 35,000 miles on my 02 LB7, and Chevy is replacing the injectors. Took it in for idle surge, when they put it on the computer found problems with rail psi. Does anyone know if the injectors they use to replace the old an improved version? Or are they just putting the same thing back in? Would be nice if it was a better design, so you wouldn't have to worry about it again.

Some of the injector problems came from a bad production run of either mis-machined bodies or an alloy flaw. This resulted in cracked injector bodies. As I understand it, this can produce excessive fuel return rates and contaminated engine oil. Some of the injector replacements (past and present) were/are due to leaking fuel return lines - under the valve covers. As we learned with the electronic 6.5, inadequate dealer training or effective troubleshooting can artificially skew the magnitude of the "injector problem" due to unnecessary parts replacement.
