I just got charged 1.0 hours for a fuel filter change by the Chev dealer. My previous dealer (GMC truck dealer) charged me 0.4 hours for the same thing.

Does GM have an established shop rate for this? Anybody know the code for this procedure?

That particular dealership might have a shop rate minimum of 1 hour. If so, that policy should be posted where a customer can see it.

I also had lube-oil-filter and they charged 0.4 for that, so I don't think I ran into a minimum charge.

Can somebody tell me why an Oil-Filter on a "car" is 29.99 and on a diesel is 59.99? It's only 3 more qts of oil. And no, the few times I took it in (the initial free oil/filter changes) I didn't see the guy busting butt hitting the zerks..

only 3 more qt of oil??? the avg. GM gas car holds 4.5 and the trucks get 6. Duramax is 10. But still I see your point. we get extra time on Diesels do to not having the oil on a reel and having to dump it in a qt at a time. the oil and filter we sell for the duramax cost more then the gassers. we charge $19.95 for gas engines up to 5qt of oil and $45.99 for duramaxs.

There are a lot more gasoline vehicles running through quick lubes than diesels. The gassers account for much larger volumes of filter production, and often share the same filter among many models. The 5w30 weight oil is the most common and is available CHEAP. Diesels use 15w40 oil which is typically more expensive, and generallly not in the lube gun/bulk system.
