and what do you think so far?

please reply with configuration (trans, 4x4?, ext. cab, crew, dooley, etc) approx miles and differences between the two.

mileage? quietness? smoothness? power? any other issues?

great thanks to all that can share their info.

i am on the fence on whether to keep the 03 or order an 05 crew shorty.....

Just do a search for LLY and you will find my posts.

LLY turbo is better. Quicker. AC works better.

But I have only 800 miles on the LLY, so I can't comment on the mileage or power yet.

My ac works worse and my 2001 (without the chip)will out run it with a load, but not empty. The 2001 will get better fuel mileage both empty and pulling than the 03 and the 04.

I did race both trucks unloaded on a freeway onramp, and the 03 won hands down. Neither is chipped. But I do attribute this to the 04 being brand new.

02 chev 3500 D/A CC LT 4x4 90000 km.. awsome truck pulled my 32' car hauler like it wasn't there 19500-20000 combined loaded..

now have 04 gmc 3500 D/A LLY CC SLT 4x4 6000km to date, no problems. The truck is quiter than the other even when loaded and pulls much stronger than the LB7 did.. the only thing i don't like about this truck is the General tires, seem to have sidewall flex when pulling trailer causing it to wonder..other than that i love it

I had a 2001 2500 hd,4x4 lb7 auto ex cab...I have a 2004.5 lly crew 4x4 auto.... Both need shock the day it leaves the production line! they both get just over 17 mpg,I think the lly maybe get a 1/2 mpg better..... the lly pulls harder stock but with a chip the lb7 can make ALOT MORE power then a lly! the 2001,2002 lb7 didnt have cats so you can do anything to the exhaust without a problem from the feds! I have a juice box on my lly and had one on the 2001 , THEY run hard ! If I spent the mone on a suncoast trans the LB7 (pre EGR) would be my first choice only because of how much power it can make!!!!( no problem 470 RWHP with just a box) LLY I dont think it will make over 400 rwhp with out LOTS of mods... both are good motors ... the 2001 had 81K at trade in...lly has 19K now!

Just got the 2004.5 LLY Chevy. Had a 2001 GMC - couldn't pass up all the rebates. I just put the first 500 miles on a trip to the western MN. It is quieter than the '01. I really can't tell yet about power until I hook up to or 38' fifth wheel - then I will know (hitch goes in on Tues). I had the juice in the 01, don't know when I will "juice" the '04 - probably when I notice that it doesn't pull as well stock as the '01 w/juice. On the '01 my oil pressure was always just around 65-70 psi. I notice the 04 hangs around 50 - anyone else notice this?
I want to put my Banks exhaust system on the '04 - Banks says the 01 unit will fit on the '04 (what do I do about the cat covert?) . I really want to do both the juice and the exhaust. I have the egt and boost guages from the '01 I will install when I do the juice.
Anybody using the juice with the stock exhaust system?
By the way - the computer has indicated a 19.8 mpg average for the last 300 miles. It was easy driving, no hills, about half and half 60 mph and 70mph. I haven't filled the tank yet to check the mileage that way , but will do that tomorrow.
