Has anyone heard from Broker lately. Just wanted to know how the truck was doing.

Last I had heard, he was retiring the 01 Duramax at about 468,000 miles.

But I have to question how accurate that is. Because in November of 01 the truck turned over to 174,000 miles, then in March it was reported the truck had something like 270,000 miles then a short 5 months later it was upto 468,000. That to me sounds to far fetched to be possible. That is almost 300,000 miles in 9 months. :confused:

300,000 miles in 9 months is about 33k a month or about 1100 a day which is 20 hours a day at about 55mph. 1100 a day at 75mph drops to under 15 hours a day.

Now he runs a business where the truck iss constantly on the road and has 2 or 3 drivers. I dont see where it is that impossible.

Let's not go there AGAIN, it's been satisfactorily confirmed the Broker is the DMAX man with over 400K on the truck. The truck is beat to death and the seats are worn out, but it keeps on burning up some hiway. If this thing was a racehorse it would be out to Stud by now! LOL

There is only one thing I want to know and I have asked several times before and I just have to find out...........was it a "ticker" and if it was, did it ever stop ticking and at what mileage did it stop. LOL If it was a "Ticker" and it went 483K or whatever miles without major engine problem, then let it tick on!!! I know he has had some work done Injector pump and such, but I don't recall any major work, no head gaskets etc.

If I was running GM I would buy that truck back tear it down and do a documentary on the wear factors. I personally would like to see the bearings, piston rings and other components in a 483K engine. I also understand there was a post saying the compression test was still up to spec. after 400K. WOW, what an engine we have!!!

Obviously good maintenance is the key to the success of this truck!!!

I`m not trying to cause any problems here!

And I know the math involved and what the truck was used for and how the drivers worked. (atleast from what I read here and over at the pickup site)

294,000 in 9 months is unreal, But the 198,000 in less then 5 months is the one I can`t beleive.

As for GM buying the truck back. If this was true, They should give him a replacement to study the old one.

My theory,
There was never such a truck......The many miles traveled have NEVER been witnessed by anyone ......Right??????

I think the guy at GM in charge of posting was laid off in a cost cutting measure.....In addition he wore out his calculator....They have persuaded enough people to buy the Duramax/Allison based on them calculated sums......There fore the risk factor of a new product purchase, by weary customers have subsided.....As seen with the current sales numbers..... :eek: ;) There fore BROKER will drive of into the sunset at GM head quarters, never to be heard of again!!!!!!!!

I agree on them giving him a new truck. That 400k+ DMAX would be a gold mine of information for them. :D

If so, were you a member when issue 33 came out with the 1.18 million mile cummins story? I think that guy had the same type of bussiness as Broker and he averaged about 18K a month!

I think I remember reading Broker got rid of his truck with a little over 400K?

A year or so back there was an article in a big news paper that had a 95 Chevy with the 5.7L gas engine that went over 1,000,000 miles without an overhaul. I think it was Pennzoil that had the documentation of it.

I believe all the posts about "super" high milage vehicles.

REASON:....?

They (most) are driven as highway miles. There is NOTHING better for an engine than highway miles. Its the stop and go city driving for short distances that really make it hard on a vehicle.

I think a lot of them guys have finally been gunned down by a Dmax here and there and haven't been flaming it so bad.....

Keeping the miss belief smoldering..... Is what he doing possible in the allotted time frame?Could be......Cow $hit I know......Just seems a little tight as others beside me have pointed out but not impossible I guess......I'm a hard sell on the subject......

I am up to 98,500 on my 3500. I'll even take a pic of the odometer to prove it. On 1-2-02 I had 46,935 as documented here: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=551338&uid=437876 Thats 51,065 miles so far this year. Thats with one person (me) driving except for one road trip to the Rendevous in BC. I should break 100K next week. :( No more engine warranty. :eek:

Sorry, Been way too busy.

I got to laugh at some of you guys!Believe what you want.I never ever worked for any manufacturer.The 01 D/A was not a (hobby truck)!The 01 D/A was retired and sold at auction.It brought $8,500.The buyer was from Vermont.

And yes it ticked all the way.No head gasket problems on any of'em yet.

I got to state that the 03's are ugly!

Way to go!!
Keep usin those trucks for what they were intended.
I think that it is interesting that it takes a Ford 550 to do what the DMax/Allison does.

That's one sweet town you live in,the night life down town is incredible ......I've spent some time on vacations there,brother in law resides there on Venturi Drive.....Me you and So-Cal will have to have a burger at Ruby's and some drinks at Duke's next time I come out ......I'll have to rent a Dmax and bring the Super Juice.......

Hell Ill join ya! Im only about 90 miles north of Huntington Beach. Thats either an hour drive through LA or a 6 hour drive :eek:

Jopefully by Christmas my upgrades will be complete. We can head down to the local strip and have fun with those little cars that fit in our truck beds!

Tractor Hauler,two different applications.
550's are 30,000 Gcvw and the k3500's are 25,999 Gcvw.I'm very content with the 550's.I do worry about the new upcoming 6.0 not having enough displacement for the job. But i will never buy a c45-5500 series due to bad design in my opinion.They took a shot at theF45-550 and hit the IVECO market.

HB , the only thing we have noticed is a different exhaust note.We dolike the XM radios.Other than that we would like sheet metal update on the nose for 04!Just but ugly!

IMO the darker color new style Chevy HD's look great.

Will be getting my '03 for $500 over invoice. Now if I can get the same performance that you've reported here, then I'll be in pig heaven for many years to come.

I'd still go for the old style, '02 Chevy D/A even at the same price just to get the 0%, 60 month financing. That's a great deal. Go with zero down and leave your own money in savings accruing interest.

But, there are no '02 leftovers around here with what I need; cc, sb, 4x4 w/G80.

Why would anyone, including dealers, order a 4x4 w/o G80 locking rear?

HB, Broker here.I agree about the darker colours looking sharp. Mine are all black with black trailers and polished rims.

The financing is a great deal, but i write 'em off and don't care!I run'em because i can make money on resale and a black unit is always higher than any other colour at an auction!My 01 D/A brought $4000 more than my old dodges brought!
That is $2000 more to party with! Hell i burn more fuel in my boat on a fun weekend to Atlantic city and back than that!

No HOBBY TRUCKS in this Garage!
