is there any way i can get more RPM with my tranny?

^... I need more RPM's also. The tranny has nothing to do with it though. Dr. K may be working on a programmer (my suspicions and guesswork ONLY) and maybe we'll get the results soon. 2800 RPM is all mine will do. That stinks.
Now you see my frustrations with those mini-vans that pass me with ease.
And Mack Daddy thinks it's funny.. HA HA ...NOT... ( :D )

Some of you "new to diesel" guys forget you have a diesel under the hood. Diesels aren't meant to run high rpms like gassers. If higher r's and racing is what you wanted, you should have gotten the 8.1.

What you will notice is the trans will upshift before you would like it to. This is to help keep the rpms constant, in the engine's power band.

I believe these things can me modified. I'm not sure if the Juice addresses rpms at all. It would be interesting to have a mod that controls the Allison too. Not just for slip but rpm and shifting as well.

^....Amen?? (And may it be so?)... All I want is a stinking lift from a mid-range limit of 2800 to an upper range of about 3400. If I had of wanted higher RPM's (as in 6000 - 9000), I'd have bought a gasser... LMAO.... Who said that  ?? Amen.... ;)

I had to drive mine before I responded here, but if your engine will only make 2800 power on rpm, some thing is amiss. Mine will run right to 3300 under load, and then shift up. Might be worth getting it to a dealer.

Just wondering if anyone has installed an afermarket reprogramed cumputer. I was reading an add where Diesel Dynamics will up the rpm to 3500? and raise the 97mph cut out to 115mph

^...TLA... 2800 is all it will do. I had a 2k2 prior to this one and it did 2800. Also had a 2k1 prior to the first 2k2 and it did 2800. See my pic of the current Chuckwagon Machine, w.f.o. (click in the sig line). That's the proof in the picture (pudding).

Sal Gal, please post a URL for the advertisement. I'm not so sure that we're talking the same thing as a "reprogrammed computer". To my present knowledge, there isn't a reprogrammable computer or "chip".

I'm to the point now of blocking all mini-vans that try to pass. It's a NASCAR thAng!. :D

Your pix shows 2800 and 97 MPH, right?? Your hitting the rev limited topend?? Can turn more than 2800 in lower gears? You really don't want more RPMs you want to move the speed limiter. smile.gif

^... If I am understandng this concept correctly, the top-end speed is jurisdicted by the max 2800 RPM. Thus no "speed limiter", as such, but a "rev" limiter, in conjunction with the 5th gear overdrive ratio. Thus 97 MPH max. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Bottom line is that I want more than a mini-van can do. Whatever it takes but I want at least 117 MPH, if not more. No, correction.. MORE !!! I WANT MORE...But I see your point and I may very well be shaking the wrong bush, Boss, but I want more speed, and also, I want the winning lotto numbers for the next draw... D@mn it.. :D

Any help is most appreciated as I patiently await Dr. K to send me a programmer for the EPPROM chip. The real chip.

it looks like the sulution would be the six gear. so is anybody working on it?

Well I'm not sure since I'm still babying this new toy of mine but since the tach only turns red at 3200 RPM I assumed you could turn over 3k in the lower gears if you wanted to hold it in the gear manually. I just figured the 97 MPH top end was a computer generated number based on ECU sensing 5th gear and 2800 RPM. Seemed logical to me at the time. Am I wrong??

^... I think we both are on the same page now.. 2800 in 5th gear, as a computer determined gear to RPM ratio for the max speed of 97. As you stated (correctly) a higher RPM is allowable, under different operating conditions.

I patiently await JK for a modification.

The 97mph top speed is a speed limit, not an rpm limit. If you drive an L18 truck and accelerate at WOT you won't even shift into 5th before you hit the speed limiter - you have to let off the throttle at 97 to get the 4-5 upshift.
With the redline and gear ratio of the LB7 trucks you are very near the top of 5th gear when you hit the speed limiter, but I'm sure that's by design - why would GM gear the truck to leave a lot of 5th gear unused because of the speed limiter?
