I just finished acquiring the needed parts for the installation of the second alternator on my Dmax. Thanks to some old posts and a bit of leg work I was able to locate all of the part #s needed. To make it easier for anyone else wanting to do this I am listing what is needed.

[Qty] [Desc] [Part #]

1 Idler Pulley.......................97233352
1 Terminal (for ECM).................12084913

1 Belt (2002 Federal)................97300655
or (2002 California).............97300657
1 Bolt (alternator lower mount)......11516360
1 Bolt (idler pulley mount)..........11515769
2 Bolt (bracket to engine and bracket to alternator upper mount)...............94009975*
1 Cable (up to 130A fusible link)....15321209**

*different than previous posts of 94009976
**includes protective boot for alternator stud

You will also need an alternator:
AD230 46A@idle 105A max 10464438
or
AD244 67A@idle 130A max 10464453

These parts will make a factory style installation.

I had great luck with www.partszoneonline.com
[good prices/reasonable shipping/quick delivery]

Hope this makes it easier for future installers

Joe

Nice of you to take the time to list the part numbers. Can you give me an idea concerning the total cost for the parts?

Anyone care to post a parts list for the 2001 trucks?

George

George,

The only difference I know of for 2001 vs 2002 is the belt part number. I don't know what it is but I bet mdrag can tell you. All of the parts, except for the alternator, cost about $120 including shipping. The alternator cost can vary considerably from take-offs for $50 to $215 for AD244 (from Alterstart) and beyond.

Hope this helps.

Read through this link:

Or check the first link in my sig, then choose the Powermaster album - I listed all the part numbers for my '01 on the intro page.

According to mdrag's link the belt for a Federal 2001 truck is #97223131.

Thanks mdrag!

I have been waiting 3 weeks for the idler pully from local GM dealer. He has checked ( is checking ) for NA dealers with this part in stock.. does anyone know if there is a subsitute P/N for the pulley, does any standard pully work?
Thanks. Trevor

deadlyman,

Sorry, the PictureTrail link in my sig has long been non-functional.

This is a cut/past from a number of my notes, so excuse the disorganization...

1) The BASE alternator is described as a Delphi AD230 with 102A output.

2) The OPTIONAL alt is a Delphi AD244 130A.

3) The Helm's manual also lists a Bosch 15755900 130A as an optional alt.

It is my understanding that you can mix/match alts - both do NOT have to be the same. I have the OEM Delphi AD230 as the aux alt, and a Powermaster 200A as the primary. Over 2 years and no problems with my install.

Here are the part numbers that I used on my '01. The serp belt and the idler pulley are different for '02. Also, the serp belt for CA emission equipped trucks is different - I don't know the part numbers for different serp belts.

REQUIRED GM PART #S for MY2001:

1) Bracket for left (DS) alternator 97212348
2) Bolt for alt lower ear to cast Al engine mount 11516360 Quantity (1)
3) Bolt for new bracket to cast AL engine mount 94009975
4) Bolt for Alt upper ear to new bracket 94009975
5) Idler pulley 97233352
6) Idler pulley bolt 11515769
7) Belt (may vary w/equipment, w/AC) 97223131
8) ECU terminal -> same terminals, different part#s 12084913 QUANTITY 5 terminals
12084912 QUANTITY 10 terminals

I got these two part numbers from Maverick (Jeff Swisher):

15306071 1 each 4 position alt connector
15321209 1 each Fusable link

The x9975 bolts MAY have been changed to x9976, and I believe it is a packaging change from (5) to (10) bolts. I bought my parts from GM Parts Direct, and after the order, they called me since the x9975 bolt changed to x9976 bolt - the x9976 part# is for a (10) bolt package and GM Parts Direct would not sell them per bolt @ $0.61 each.

For '01, add a terminal to the ECU @ C1-32 using the same procedure as for the high idle and ODLO - see Kennedy's site for the Tech Tips. Run this wire from the ECU C1-32 to the AUX alt 4 position connector that plugs into the alt. The added terminal/wire from ECM terminal C1-32 goes to the BROWN position (compared to the OEM) in the AUX (4) position connector
