Need to see some side and angle shots of the 03 Silverado in an Ex.cab or Crew to help make up my mind! Need the pics to decide whether to cancel & buy a 2002 or stick with the 2003. Saw two 2003 standard cab basic work trucks at Victory Chevrolet in Petaluma today and just kept looking over at the 2002's thinking???

Anyone out there with a Digital camera who knows a dealer with an 2003 Chevy Ex.cab or Crew on the lot?
The 2002's are going fast in the config I want. :(

SPY pic? Heck I drove this one today. It was on
the lot at Weisner GMC in Conroe, TX. No window
sticker on it and the weather got stormy so I
forgot to check on that and forgot to take a
pic of the interior!

The 2003's have an EXCELLENT stereo compared to
the 2002's. BOSE with much better sound at lower
volume, more mid and bass.
The instrument panel has a "driver info" digital
display that shows AVG MPG, current MPG, and a
bunch of other features. There are controls for
this display on the steering wheel, as well as
controls for the stereo/CD/Cass. Nicely done.

Hey, now that's a nice looking truck. I'd buy one if I didn't have an 02'. It wouldn't take much to beat a stock 02' stereo but I will bet the BOSE system sounds good.

Fishinfool, good luck with whatever you buy.

I thought the front ends were suppose to look like the Frontier trucks, sort of smooshed in and sloped?

The pictures don't show that, I am placing the post pictures that were on here several months ago. I could be wrong about this.

BigO,

I think that you are referring to the Chevy trucks, not the GMCs pictured.

Thanks for the great GMC pics but I am a Chevy Nut whose head is spinning much too fast right now!

I've gotta have those CHEVY spy pics, I have called almost every major dealer in California and no one has any 03 X-Cabs or Crews yet. :(

I think the chrome bumber with the black top looks much better than the small chrome stripe of the white one. But I'm glad I bought my 02 Chevy. The 03 looks like crap.

On a lighter note, anyone heading to the POCI show in Charleston, WV? I'll be heading over to Urbana, OH afterward to pick up my new baby? WOO HOO!! :D

That 4" gap between the bumper & grille is NASTY! redface.gif First thing I'd do is slap on a RanchHand bumper replacement.

Thanks for the pics Chris N5CWM.

I've gotta question for you guys, my body shop guy drives a 01 2500hd d/a, and both me and him are in the market for an 03 d/a. We prefer the Chevys, but the 03 gmc looks d&^%n good we think. The 03 chevy look D&^(n ugly though. For some reason he is crazy over the 01,02 chevy front ends and basically so am I. He placed and order for an 03 Chevy and when he gets it hes swaping out the hood, fenders, and front bumper back to the 01,02 look.

My question to you guys is can this be done w/o any major troubles or what not, such as lining up and stuff like that. Cause if this is so I might order the Chevy and do the same thing. I like the 03 GMC, but still, NOTHING beats that HD hood and grill of the 01 02 Chevy HD's, its just plain beastly like a truck should be.

OK - Am leaving to go see a 2003 2500HD Ex.cab shortbed DuraMax at Santa Rosa Chevrolet. My Sister & Brother-in-Law were there to buy parts and asked if they had any in. It must have just got in as I called them a few days ago. I will try to borrow a digital camera and post the pics if I can. Dave

Fishnfool

Well, they had not one but two 2003 Ex.cab SWB 2500HD's in their receiving lot. One in Pewter & the other in Summit White. I liked the look for the most part but miss the PowerDome hood the earlier trucks have.

I think the new look will grow on me, after all, change is good, is it not. At least that's what they say about the Avalanche. smile.gif

And yes, I did get pictures. Now if I can only figure out how to post them or create a link to them. I am not good at that stuff so if anyone can help, e-mail me at Dwbany@aol.com

Not sure how stuff will line up, but you'll also have to replace the grille, headlights and turn signals. Basically every part from the windshield forward.

Found 3 GMC and a Chevy. All were marked "property of General Motors" without a Window sticker except the Chevy. I'll post some photos this evening.

I also noticed the 2003s do not have a trim level sticker on them. (SLT SLE etc)

I think the grill and bumper on the GMC make it look like it has a snout. I also like the chrome on the '02 grill better than the blaced out one. I've never been a fan of paint on a bumper. My first car was a '79 Camaro and anytime I bumped someting (it was my first car) there was a new mark.

No SLE or SLT badges on the C-pillar and the molding stops on the cab instead of continuing on to the rear wheel. I also see that the GMC retains the same tail-lights. The new Chevy tail-lights look pretty good to me and should be an easy swap for those interested.

The black spacer between the grille and bumper on the GMC doesn't look as bad on the maroon one since it's got the black molded flares. It flows on that truck.

The pewter one looks terrible without the fog lights. They had done a good job on the 01s and 02s by not making an obvious void where they belong, but that pewter 03 GMC makes it pretty blatant that something goes there that the driver didn't opt for.

The Chevy is just hideous in my opinion. I wasn't crazy about the 01 and 02 Chevy's eiter. The powerdome hood made the truck look like a mongoloid. And the big chrome bar was kinda gaudy. I always liked the way the hood pointed downward above the headlights on the GMC's. Kinda like the truck is furrowing it's brow. Makes it look mean.

All of this of course is just one man's opinon and doesn't amount to anything. To each his own. No flames please.

Great pictures 'Professor', thanks. smile.gif

I have to say that I too prefer the looks of the GMC also, but I agree about the fog lights - definitely a must-have. If I was getting one I would paint the black strip above the bumper in body colour and also the fender flares (probably standard with the SLE/SLT as with the Pewter truck). I think that would look a lot better.

Chevy isn't as bad as the Avalanche, but that's not saying much. :D Next to the Black 02 parked alongside it makes you wonder what they were smoking that day. I'm sure we will get used to it but right now, the GMC definitely has the vote.

Andy.

Nice pics Professor!!

Just got back from the Sierras on vacation, will try to get some interior shots this weekend and will let you all know. If anyone wants me to e-mail them the 03 Pewter Ex.cab Longbed pics I took, please e-mail me at Dwbany@aol.com - just give me some time as I am beat from vacation.

Thanks for the pics Professor. If I were still in the market, I too would opt for the GMC instead of the Chevy.

Two other differeces I noticed:
- Removal of ribs from roof sheet metal
- Addition of rear defogger in the LS package as standard ( sure wish I had this feature in my LS)

Looking forward to getting into one to evaluate this "new and improved" interior.

Wounded Bear,
Roof ridges are only on the crew cabs. Those pics are all of ext. cabs. Have you seen a new crew cab that didn't have roof ridges?

Also, the chrome is gone from the exterior mirrors.
