Yeah I know, probably the wrong place to post again but every time I open the Forum I'm getting 4 - 6 pop-ups consistantly (not related to any of our needs). Maybe a little thing to some, but it's drivin me nuts.
Brand new custom built $4,000.00 computer with the fastest everything & I want to shoot the monitor everytime that stupid add shows up about how slooooooooow my machine is, according to them.

Anyone know of a bullet proof pop-up blocker or do I need to just deal with the fact there are brilliant folks out there that can slip those little adds in for us all to enjoy no matter what we do?

Popped again,

Billy

go to www.mozilla.org (http://www.mozilla.org) and switch to Mozilla browser. In the set up, click the "No Pop Ups".

I havent seen a pop up in about 9 months, and it works on ALL sites.

Another suggestion is to go to a place like TUCOWS.com and download ad-aware 6. This program removes cookies left behind (Spyware) that cause extra pop ups.

Both are free and it doesnt hurt to have a little computer savy when setting them up. But the basic installation is easy, on Mozilla you just need to go to Tools - Popupmanager and turn off the pop ups.

I'm not getting any popups at all... I don't have any blocker software(God knows I get them everywhere else. I just use a favorites link directly to the forum page.

Good Luck,

It could be your ISP... Are you using a free service?

You likely have Spy/Ad Ware running. To programs I use to check are Ad-Aware 6.0 and Spybot Search and Destroy. Go to ZDNET (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/)and do a search for "spybot" or "ad aware" to find it. Be sure to update the program after it is installed to get the latest definition files. Spybot seems to be a bit faster, but both work well.

No pop-ups on this site, on my work computer or at home! Only the TDP supporters at the top of the page, that I have used many times!

Thanks to all,

I'm using Time Warner - Roadrunner

I have adware (free version) & gone through all it has to offer. Hasn't made a difference.

I'm also using a Siemens SpeedStream cable router.

I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks again,

Billy

I'd say it has to do with your IP and your home page. SDaver's did the same thing when connecting to his home page. Set your home page to something like the DP, (Or KD :D ) and see what happens...

Go to DOWNLOAD.COM (http://download.com.com/3150-2144-0.html?tag=dir). There are many free downloads for pop-ups and spyware problems.

I started to use AdAware 6.0 and Smart PoP-up Killer about 2 weeks ago - and all is well ever since. Hint: scroll to the bottom of the list and choose 'FREE' in the 'FILTER BY' drop down menu.

another excellent pop up blocker is jimmy surf, you can find it through google. it isn't free but it is reasonable and works really well.
