I got my LBZ about 3 weeks ago. First diesel and first big truck for me. I have driven it around town some and made two 900 mile round trips to Billings to pick up my 5th wheel RV. Truck has 2600 miles on it now.

My DIC tells me I was getting average highway mileage (100 miles of 0-65 mph and 350 miles of 75-78 mph on I-90) of 14.4 mpg on the second trip. I noticed I noticed on the first trip that I could get 18 mpg at ~55 mph, and around 14 at 75-78 mph.

I towed my 13,000 lb fiver back from Billings yesterday and today and averaged 10.0 mpg over the same course. Please note that this was at 50 mph to honor the GM towing break-in recommendations.

Congratulations on the new truck!

Its nice to see a "local" guy posting here...You'll have to come to some of the Diesel Page events that happen throughout the year.

I'd change the rear diff if you haven't already.

"I'd change the rear diff if you haven't already."

It came stock with the 3.73 ratio. Would you suggest 4.10? I'm a little new to this.

Just the lube. That should've broke it in pretty good.

We'd all be in trouble if the diff needed a change after only that!

Excellent post! Keep up the reports on this "new animal".

DJewell,

We're planning our annual Pull-Off event sometime this coming July. We'd like to have a few LBZ trucks make the pull - especially stock trucks. Watch the site for an announcement. smile.gif
