Ok guys I just want to make sure I am not loosing it here. When I tow heavy loads with a trailer 30ft to be exact lil over 10000lbs
do you guys bring ur tires up to max pressure? The Firestones max is 80psi, I just want to make sure I do this right. I think I should but on the other hand being new to this area I may be incorrect. Is this right?

The tire inflation sticker on the door of your truck will tell you what to do...

Mine says to go 55 psi in the front and 80 psi in the rear.

Weigh that puppy. I weighed mine on a CAT scale that measured each axle (front/rear/trailer axles) and found out my front axle weight was 4100 lbs, and the rear was 4400 lbs with the trailer hooked up. Front was the same without the trailer so I keep 55 lbs front and 60 lbs rear when towing.

If you realy want to be scientific, I set my truck up so that all the tires whether unloaded or towing have a foot print of 8.5" long.
I put the truck wheels on a steel plate used 2 squares, one at the front of the tire the other square at the back of the same tire, moving the squares in and out as the air presure was adjusted until the distance between the 2 squares tight to the tire but movable was 8.5". The following is the setup for my truck with the original Firestones, I might add that the tire wear is good and even on all four.

unloaded 60psi front 42psi rear

with trailer 76psi front 80psi rear, I found the front tire presure to be critical for good control of the truck.

good luck

Guys-

Thanks for the reply's I ended running my rears at 78psi and my fronts at 65. She held up well and I was most pleased with her performance. I have a friend with the same trailer but with a DDDD DODGE which has been tweaked, tuned, etc....to make a monster out of her and I was able to keep up....Hee HAW!!!! His butt's mind when I get my tuner hehe...
