As I was changing my transmission fluid I had dropped the pan and decided to pull out the 'in the pan' filter just to drain out the remaining ATF when I heard something rolling around inside that fiter, after close examination it turned out to be an 1 3/4" x 1/4" roll pin no way that came out of the transmission. Does anyone here know about this roll pin? Does it belong inside that filter? For some obscure reason? In the meantime my oil changing activity has come to a halt until I visit tHe Allison Dealer and get the skinny on this. I'll check his new filters and see if this roll pin is present in those. Stu

The filters DO NOT have roll pins in them. Talk to the dealer ASAP.

I cant think of anything in the trans that is that big. The only thing close is the manual valve pin and its only about an 1" long and maybe 3/16" diam. There is no way for it to fall out with out removing the valve body and if it did, you wouldnt have any control over the trans with the gear shifter.
