The other day after briefly using 4x4, the engine light came on and truck went into "limp mode" and would not shift beyond 3rd gear. I shut the truck off and waited about 15mins, upon restarting the engine light was off and all appeared to be fine. On ocasion I notice some brief hesitation or sliping when pulling away from a stop.

Any thoughts or similiar symptoms.

Will the dealer be able to download a code from the ECM even thought the light is now out?

I had a similar problem a couple years ago. The dealer was able to see what the problem was without the check engine light on. The tech II can show "history" of some things I guess...

Back then, he just updated the TCM and/or ECM. Have you had any updates done since it was new? If not, get them.
