I've had the 04 Silverado for a few months now and love the truck.........except for the high beam indicator light. It's so damn bright. Has anyone replaced the bulb with a dimmer one? What bulb did you use and how do you get to it?

GM released a bulletin on this for the 2003 M/Y. The indicator can be dimmed by programming with a Tech-II. See your dealer about it. They shouldn't charge you. If they try, find another dealer. There was also a similar deal on the door chime.

Apparently, GM's attempt to please everyone also included the ADA. Sight/hearing impaired people wouldn't have to complain about it. Kinda' like the brail on the drive-up ATM's.

Good grief! I never even thought that the brightness would be programable. Stands to reason though, everything else seems to be. ;)

Yep, mine was the same in my '03. I can't believe they don't fix those items for the next year. The Tech II at the dealer will fix that problem and make it much more tolerable.

IP Cluster High Beam Indicator too Bright (Reprogram IPC)

2003 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2003 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL

Condition
Some customers may comment that the IP cluster high beam indicator lamp is too bright.

Correction
To reduce the high beam indicator intensity level, reprogram the IPC with the service calibration that was available from Techline on the TIS2000 version 4.5 or later for 2003. This calibration is an electronic calibration and is not available from GMSPO.
