has anyone out there used any of the performance boxes or tuners with the duramax and zf-6? I have an 03 gmc with an AFE intake and a Magnaflow 4"exhaust but thinking about a module or tuner...I had a 01 Chevy D/A and the edge juice but I had problems with the transmission kicking into neutral when tromping on the fuel so kind sour with edge does anyone have any input?

I've seen a lot of 6 speeds behind stock Maxs that couldn't hold up. Well, their clutches coudn't anyway. I don't think I'd press my luck w/ a box. I do believe though, that South Bend is now making beefer clutches for the Duramax may check w/ them on flywheels as well. To answer your question, I've not known anyone to try a box in front of a 6 speed though. I woulndn't blame Edge for those tranny problems. There are some bulletins that pertain to like symptoms. For the LB7, IMHO, the Juice is about the best box out there .

Oh great I bought a 2003 2500HD manual 6 speed thinking it would hold up better than the automatic. Just my luck.

I am curious how the programmers work with the 6spd as well and what everyone would recommend.

I have had my flywheel replaced and no problems since. Still love the 6spd.

Hey cday! Mitchell huh? I'm just down the road from ya a bit. I was actually in C-burg a couple a weeks ago working on a STS. Where'd your truck come from?

maddmatt, The truck came from Burton GMC.
Is the problem just with the clutch and not the transmission itself?
Do you work for a dealer or are you in business for yourself?

Thanks,cday

I think, but don't quote me, that there was a 6 speed in Kenedey's diesel pull off that ran the hill faster than the other Duramaxes with the same options. Don't seem like a bad idea if you don't mind shifting all the time.

The problems are mainly w/ the clutch and flywheel, although I have seen it escalate into input shaft and bearing problems. Yeah I'm in a dealer. we have a location not to far from you on 60.

Dang, I bought a used 02 6 spd/D-Max about 9k ago with 40k on the odomoter. So far so good, but now you guys got me nervous. Bought the 6sp because the dealer kept lowering his price enough for me to buy it and I thought it'd be bulletproof.
