Injector replacement is said to run $4,000.

Who's actually had to pay this? I thought GM was extending warranty to 7 years/200,000.

Where does the number come from?

The first owners of 2001 and 2002 trucks who had injector problems had to pay an amount in that ball park when no extended waranty was present and the engine waranty was over.

A little bit after that, injector cost went down alot (from 600-800$ to 200-300$ each I think) wich lowered the cost of replacing them. I is a 8-12 hours job.

A few months later, GM annonced that they would offer a waranty extension to cover some injector problems as described in their may-june letter to the owners.

I think GM will reimburse the owners who actually paid money to have their injectors replaced on a case by case basis.
