Hello all! This is my first post agter "lurking" for the past 8 months.

I just picked up my new GMC 2500HD SLT this past week and it was quite cold here in the Twin Cities. I stopped by to see a services writer who was a friend of mine and told him what I had just purchased. He showed me the TSB that GM issued a while back on "cold weather" oil. Well, to make a long story short, they put Delvac 1 5W40 in the truck alsong with a new GM oil filter. At the time of the install, the truch had 23 miles on it. Do you all think this will be a problem in the long run? Or, am I okay to run with this from the get go??

Thanks - glad to be here!

You'll be OK, it's a great oil. Read any of the number of posts on the issue.

Welcome to the board.

I think the only issue is the cost of the oil if you are going to dump it at low intervals for the first 10000km. I ran rotella T at about half the price because I dumped the oil at 500km, 1500km, 5000km and then went with Amsoil at 10000km for one oil change. I am now using the mobil products and love them.

Echoing the above comments, the ONLY concern is the cost/waste by having early drain intervals. I prefer to change the oil early, and often in the first 1000 miles. Judging by your signature, $$$ isn't an issue, so I'd have it changed at 500 and 1000 miles. If you can find a nice stout load and hit the highway with it you'll be assured a complete and speedy break in!
