OK GM Techs, question for ya....02's seem to run much higher oil pressure than 03's. Do we have a different oil pump or just a weaker relief spring ? If so, are the pumps interchangable ?

Todd---I am not 100% postive but I think I read somewhere on here that the 01 and 02's have a 80 psi oil pressure gauge and the 03's have a 120 psi gauge and this is the reason some people think their 03's have lower oil pressure than the older models. Same pressure as the older models just a bigger gauge for the new models. You might do a search on oil pressure and find some past posts on this subject.

Quote from D-max Man from this similar thread,
http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=004584&p=

"Before I left Isuzu, they were talking about making a change to the Pressure relief valve in order to drop the pressure a bit. Too many people were complaining about the pressure being too high and they really didn't need that much anyway."

I recall a person at a local dealership commenting that the 03 duramax's were filled w/the wrong oil and they (dealership) were to drain and refill all the arrivals. IIRC, it was last fall when they were starting to be delivered. Could the wrong oil cause a lower than normal indication?
