Had my 2002 D/A in for service today (leaking differential, second time they've changed the pinion seal). The Service Manager asked if I wanted him to check for PCM and TCM updates, I said sure.

They found 10 updates! Installed them all. I have no idea what they are, but here are the part numbers:

TCM Updates: 15172881, 15079907, 15172884.

PCM Updates: 15166868, 15166858, 15166875, 15094452, 15166862, 15166853, 15175988.

Anybody know what all these are??

Thanks,
Joe

Have an 02 TK25943. Also have had pinion seal replaced twice. Second time around they said the flange on the back of the yoke piece was bad and replaced that. So far so good. Didn't have the updates looked at though. It would appear that I will be going back.

I checked your profile to see where you are from to see if these codes would be relevant to my truck namely a California truck. I can understand somewhat your paranoia about divulging any personal info but cannot understand your reluctance about the state you live in unless you're a fugitive. In this case it does help to know wherer you live.Stu

From the GM PCM site http://vci.ecomm.gm.com/vci/ I was able to find descriptions for the updates below. Updates that have no description I didn't show the update available for my truck:

PCM Updates:
15166868
15166858 new calibration to improve misfire detection
15166875
15094452
15166862 new calibration prevents setting of false trouble codes
15166853 new calibration to address obd2 compliance issue
15175988

That should help a little. Would be really nice to see online what updates/descriptions are available for the TCM.

I recall a couple of months ago someone hinted a new tranny software (TCM) release was coming. I just checked online and it appears there are no new updates for my vin.

I haven't looked into this in great detail, but for the most part, these are minor updates.

The TCM updates include a provision for an OD lockout addition, and an update to correct the "2nd gear stop" where two footers or hilll stops leave the Allison in second gear due to confusion.

I checked out the site for my VIN and it came back with 22 items, all of which had a Bulletin # of N/A except the "new calibration for excessive shifting with cruise on and idle surge". Does this mean that the excessive shifting update is all I need or it's simply the only one with a Bulletin #?

I believe one of the above TCM updates also addresses shiftiness problems. Had mine updated today and there was a TCM update for my VIN# & had installed.
Haven't gotten paperwork yet from dealer.

The overdrive lockout calbation is to address a future overdrive lockout provision. This will be available in the future (read as an override switch) dealer installed. This is a engineering change to adress shift business with extreme loads. It will be late summer before projected release so don't run to your dealers yet. I'll write in when available.
