Other than that heavy right foot?

Not really... ;)

That is about what mine got with 7500 miles on it but has progressed to about 18 as or 14000 miles. It will get better as it breaks in, don't worry and enjoy the power.

tmg115,

I have noticed the same thing with just 3k on her as I have been getting consistantly just under 16 mpg for mostly city driving and with the last tank it dropped to under 14 mpg. I certainly havn't been driving any different other the pedal to the metal. :D You know, normal driving with this baby. I think I will try a different fuel from another fuel station and see if that makes a difference.

Don

Mine dropped from a little over 17 to about 14 over a few thousand miles. I changed out the air filter and now I'm back to high 17's.

In addition to the break-in time needed to get to the low 20s (around 15K), I have found that the fuel really makes a big difference...I stay with high dollar Texaco and Chevron fuel from busy stations and when forced to get some "questionable" fuel I can really tell the difference in both performance and mileage...

Mine gets infinite gas mileage ;)

Diesel mileage, though, is running in the 18's since the weather turned warm. High of 19.9. Got 17's all winter long. That's empty, combination city/highway. 17K miles.

I would love to see 15 consistantly but have only seen that high once or twice in 10,000 mi. I am still getting better mileage than I would with the gas combination and diesel is 10-15 cents cheaper.

..............

I bought mine and have checked every tankful since day one.

Started out from the dealers tank of diesel at 16.28 and stayed around 16 - 16.75 till I hit 3K miles, It has steadily climbed since then. With the average tank getting better than 18.5 mpg averaged for city and highway.

Even towing a 23 ft SeaRay boat at 65 mph for over 90 miles I still got slightly over 14.5 towing.

I only buy my Diesel from a MOBIL station and it's always the same station.

I am "Juiced" now and am anxious to see if I gain or lose MPG.

Wish I had an answer for ya!!!

Chris,

Yeah, 20mpg is easy for us also down around 55mph.

Sorry, just had to do it. ;)

SoCal, are you saying chris runs at maximum speed "55mph" all the time to get his mileage figures??

Had to add one more. :D :D :D :D

I get arond 17 when I check. That is 95%+ highway at 80mph+

I heard the I6 won't rev high enough to get over 55 MPH!! :D :D :D

When I drive local, I get between 14 - 17 mpg, right foot dependent and how much idle time. If I drive highway and keep the truck between 65 - 70 mph, I will get 20 mpg. Faster than that, it will dip dowm to around 17. Worst tank full so far was towing 6000 lbs through hilly rural roads and computer limited speeds on the highway  got me 13 mpg. All things considered, I'm pleased with the mileage. :D

Russ Denman pecks away at his keyboard..
"I heard the I6 won't rev high enough to get over 55 MPH!!" :D :D

OH Russ! LOL, how about a race? Let's start
at, oh, about 90 MPH and go from there... :D :D

I've seen 114 on my Garmin GPS. No speed limiting
hidden divices over at DC (Diamler-Chrysler). ;)

ssssmmmmmmmmmAAAAAAAAAck!

When we drove from Vermont to Florida this spring, our average wsa 20.5 mpg. Around here, we have NEVER gone below 18 mpg. highway miles, cruise set at 74 mph..we never have had a tank of city miles, but if I can steal the truck during the week, I might be able to check that. We had the same mpg using high-sulfur, and low-sulfur, after fuel filter change, no difference. We try to only get our diesel from our shop, where 15 trucks are filling up daily, and the big truck comes every 3 days to fill the tank....Heading south this spring, I only went to Flying J's...and parked by the big rig's to get fuel....could have been because of the turnover of diesel at those places.?????

This is with a Crew Cab S/B....4x4...

TMG... Its the Banks exhaust! Get a Kennedy system and it will be fine. :D :D Wait... mine sux as well, but not to the tune of (gulp) 13 mpg!

Are you filling up at the same fuel stop? Fuel filter okay? Wearing steel toe shoes?

tmg115

i tried a diferent fuel place and it is the same.

i have no idea if the fuel filter is bad or not.

and i do wear steel toe boots but i have always so i dout that is the reason.

i just realized something. when the ticking stop the bad millage began. could it be related?

CHRIS,

You really saw 114 in your Dodge?

I am jealous... My dually only gets to 97 miles per hour because of the limiter but what the hell... It still leaves that "what the f#$%" looks on the faces of the Dodge Lamb & Ford PowerJoke owners that I pass going up the grapevine (tejon pass on I-5 in Cali) @ 85 MPH towing my boat.

It ain't towing once the hull creats enough lift to get the trailer airborne...

MILEAGE TOPIC....

My dually is getting mid-15s in town... Los Angeles traffic but has steadily improved in highway mileage.

At 85, it was at 15 mpg... Now with the ARE Shell and 10,000 miles (I have owned the truck 7 weeks... YIKES!) I am getting 17 on the HWY...
