Will a 6.5 block bolt to a TH350/400 auto tranny? Does it have the same pattern as a chevy small block? The reason I am asking is that I'm considering a 6.2/6.5 swap for my Land Rover Discovery and there are adaptors available which will allow a SBC to bolt up to the existing ZF auto box. Anyone done this swap? Thanks in advance!

Yes, the bell housing bolt pattern for the 6.5 is the same as that for a small block chevy.

Thanks!.....how do the overall dimensions of the 6.5 compare to a SBC?

The 6.5 is similar in size to the big block chevy. I've had both on engine stands and they're very similar.

The 6.5 is slightly taller, a little longer, and several inches wider than a big block.

A TH350 would use the same flexplate as that used by a 6.2L/700R4. A TH400 would use the same flexplate as that used by a 6.5L/4L80-E. In the documentation, the two different flexplates are sometimes referred to "light-duty" and "heavy-duty". The torque converter bolt pattern is the only difference.
