I'd recommend somewhere near the oil. Just kidding. ;)

I've got one installed in the oil filter mount. I removed a 3/8 NPT plug and used an adapter to fit the sender. The trick is to get the sender as close to the flow as possible without obstructing it.

Click on truck pics below to see the actual location.

Hope this helped, Regards, Steve

I mounted mine where SoCalDmax recommended and it works fine. My oil temp runs from 195 - 215. When pulling my 5er this weekend it was running 215. Coolant temp was 191. I have a digital coolant temp gauge also.

What temp did you see on the stock temp gauges?

I've found that the factory temp gauge is off by about 5- 10 degrees. On the lower end of the scale the temp is off by about 10 degrees. At operating temps it is off by about 5. When I was at 191 the stock gauge was about 195.

I had a sensor that replaced the oil pan plug on my D**ge. It was pretty worthless. It would only show a temerature rise at idle or when the ambient temperature was real hot. It showed very little difference on what kind of load I was pulling.
