Hello all, just registered, this is my 1st post and my 1st truck. I am usually very good at checking my tire pressure at every fill up. Well, I have had my truck 2 weeks now and just checked on my 2nd fill up. The front tires were right at what the sticker on doorsill said, 55 psi. The rears were at 35 psi and the door sill recommends 80 psi. I was a bit nervous putting them to 80 psi. Is it safe to do so? They are the stock tires. Thanks.

John,

Welcome to the Forum.

The 80 lbs. listed for your tires is maximum to be used when the truck is loaded fully. For the best ride when empty I would go around 50 lbs. in the rear. You should add air to both the front and rear as you increase the load carried by the truck up to the maximum of 80 PSIG.

You can experiment as to what rides best and gives the best mileage when empty, but I would not go below 45 PSIG. As you load the truck, you must increase tire pressure appropriately.

Hope this helps.
