Gauge light source

I am installing gauges and was wondering where everyone is hooking up their light connections. I have done a lot of searches but the only specific taps have been at the "illum" fuse on the side fuse location. Well, in an 04, that fuse is not located there anymore. Is there a specific wire I should look for to tap into or ??????
I do have an 04 with the lb7.

I pulled the dash panel around the speedo off and got the dimmer switch block pulled out. I tapped into the brown white or the violet white. You can check the wires with a test light to see which it is. It is easy and fast. I know there was no other place to get the dimmer to work on my gauges in my 05.

The brown/white wire was the correct one. I was suprised how easily the headlight switch was to remove, piece of cake.
