I have 61 K on my '02 with early juice and as of yet had no real problems. Great mileage, super power on the tows and just plain FUN to drive.
I have just lately been having the fuel gauge go wacky on me.
I am driving down the road with a full tank of fuel and all of the sudden my gauge jumps to empty and the low fuel light comes on. I stays for a while and them goes back to full. It has been flip flopping like this since we had 2 inches of rain in the last two days.
Has anyone had a problem like this and could the rain have something to do with it.

Thanks,

Mark

my '03s guage broke on me this winter. Just stopped working and never worked again. The new guage gets me to 340 miles at 1/4 tank and then i get 30 more miles till empty. I have no idea, but have had several stupid electrical problems with this truck. Still better than my Ford though.

Mine did the same thing about 6 months ago. Left it alone & it fixed itself. John

I had my sending unit replaced under warranty on my 03. My wifes 02 yukon had one replaced two weeks later. The service manager said there was a tsb on this. The yukon was the same symptoms as yours. Mine would just run out of fuel when the gauge was still above empty.

My 2001 started doing that about a month ago. It flip flops from full to empty when full down to about 1/2 tank then goes back to normal!

I checked with my dealer and he said that the sending unit parts and labor was over 700 smackers. I think I can live with the flashing light a little longer.
I have begun to notice that it does not seem to do it as much when my tank is 3/4 tank or less.

Most likely it's the sending unit. My wife's car just had the same thing happen. Gauge bounces up and down and trips the low fuel light and alarm bell. Pretty annoying but it's $400 - $600 to replace depending on the model year for that car (99' 300M).
