I love my DuraMax, but why does it run terrible when it is cold. Mine even chatters when it shifts gears when it is cold. It almost sounds like the lifters are falling out of the valve train. People say idling is bad but if I do not let mine idle for five minutes it will not hardly run. I put the juice on and it helped the problem somewhat. Now I am talking about around 40 degree temps which is cold to us southern boys, I like heat. Hell it takes 10 miles to get warm. (maybe I am cold natured) I love out-running imports

IHRAracer, I too have the same problem. I was talking to some friends up in Utah and they controlled the problem of the truck warming up by putting on a high idle switch. The truck warms up now in 1-2 minutes. Dont know what the shimmy is but would be nice to know...

A high Idle switch is good and it helps, mine is my foot holding it at 1500 smooth. However, like you said what causes this.

Not sure what you mean by "not hardly run", but it sounds normal. Mine takes forever to warm up at normal, or a little above normal (foot method) at 40
