Surges when changing gears

From time to time, at low speeds, when it shifts into another gear, it will surge for just a second. At first, I thought I might be giving it a little throttle since the accelerator is so easy to mash. But it is doing it on it's own. I can't duplicate it, it just does it once in a while. I also get an occasional hard or eratic shift from 1st to 2nd. Most of the time it is a smooth shift. Sometimes it almost feels like a quick double shift. It's hard to explain. I just know that sometimes, things are just not right. It is an '02 but was built in late Oct. 2001. Before I picked it up in June, I asked the service manager if he would bring everything up to code, but not sure if he did or just said he would. You know how that goes. :confused:

Mine was built 11/01 and does the same thing..Only every once in a while and usually when cold.My 2000 Z71 did it also..

My 2002 does this also. It is always when it is cold and at low speed, usually 1-2 and 2-3. I wonder if this is the surge that everyone was talking about.

My mid-February build '02 does this as well.

I like to think of it as that quick throttle blip during a heel & toe downshift. smile.gif

Mine too. Warm or cold it will do it most of the time. More often at lower RPM.

My truck also does this. I thoughht it sounded like a "burp." I hear big trucks doing what sounds likes this somethimes when down shifting. Kind of a quick tap on the throttle in neutral before changing gears.

Same here! Mostly when cold and low RPM's. Doesn't bother me, I usually drive slow when cold anyway. :cool:

I think what you are refering to is "shift flair" at least that is what it has been refered to in the past. I think you will find a number of post IRT it if you search. I have had it almost since I bought it and you are right it seems to happen primarily when it is cold but it doesn't seem to hurt anything so??? I'm a drivin it.
