I updated our TIS 2000(computer database software)at the GMC dealership earlier this week that I am employed at. After doing so I noticed that there is not an option for the LB7 Duramax diesel in the 2004 model year. We have had two 2004 Duramaxs so far both with the LB7 engine of course which leads me to believe if you like the LB7 over the rumors of the LLY you better order one soon while you can. It is still optional at this time to order 2500HD and 3500 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick medium duty trucks with the LB7.

Have we heard any additional solid information about the LLY? Do we have any GM engineers, plant workers or people who work and the proving grounds here on the forum?

justa6.0, I am assuming LB7 is the build code for the "current" DMax, and LLY is for the "next Generation" DMax. (or is LLY w/ a cat, not the new motor, which would answer my next question?)What did you mean by "if you like the LB7 over the rumors of the LLY you better order one soon while you can." Is there something about the new motor I missed? I was under the impression the HP/Torque #'s would be better, and injector replacement (if needed) would be much easier due to a design change, etc.
Is there any more info on the new motor as far #'s and a release date? Thanks, DinoMax

2001-2003 Duramaxs RPO LB7 are soon to be discontinued once the inventory is depleated(still available)

2004 Duramax RPO LLYrumor is rumored to be updated from the cylinder heads up with 350 horse power and 565 ft.lbs. torque?
