Jb6600, Are you planning on chipping it? or new Injectors? I will look into it.

Joey D, I just recieved info on the new 4X4 scheduled for the new 2005 models here are the spects for the new set up:

2-speed New Venture Gear model NV273
Electronically controlled
Instrument panel-mounted Rotary selector switch for 2H/4H/4L
Heavy duty off road skidplate
Front locking hubs-manual operation
5.13 Rear Axle Ratio
13,500-lb GAWR with 13,500-lb Spring Rating
Rear limited slip diff
4wheel disk brakes (15 inch discs)
In-wheel rear Park Brake
245/70R19.5G
Highway Traction on/off Road tread
Speed rated at 75 mph

Turning Radius will be 11.5 ft shorter than the Ford 450/550

I will probably starting taking deposits and start the line of First come, First serve Next week. This should add the price tag up around $4000.00 more

Matt, Not to waste your time, but what price range would a 4X4 crew short wheel base 4500 run, and diff to go to 5500? Diesel 6spd, A/C PW , PDL and rear locker.

So Matt,

According to data, the NVG 273 is rated at 17,500 GVW. Does this mean the 4wd will be limited to a 4500 and not available in the higher GVW's in the 5500? That would sure be a disappointment for me, as I would like something in the 20-25K GVW range in a 4wd. Thanks for the info.

Sorry to get back so late to you guys I have been at the Spokane Ag Show for the last three days.

Joey D: I still do not have accurate pricing yet. For some reason the Carbook people always send me updated info last, that's how it works being the #1 Dealer in the Northwest and #2 the United states. Smaller dealers seem to get info first and trucks last and I get trucks first and info last. Go figure.

JB6600: The only thing I have been told is the Increased price of about $1200 and that the emissions were going to change. I have not seen the new ones yet but I will by the end of the month and then I can snap a photo and send it to you.

03Dmax: I really don't Study up on 5500 for the simple fact that I don't sell them. I think for the time being they only want to start with the 4X4's at a small pace to make sure everything works right. I don't know when you will see them in the 5500's.

Matt,

Does one HAVE to get the 5.13 gears, or can one get taller ones like the 4.44's or 4.88's. I would like a 4X 4500, but not if I have to get such low axle gears! I spend too much time on the freeway for that low of an axle ratio, even with the 33.5" 245 tires vs the 2WD 225's.

How long would it take to one once ordered?

So I called my guy at the GM Medium duty center and yes you are in luck 03DMAX they are going to make the 4X4's in the CK5500. Thought that might make your day.

Marty B I also asked about the gearing for the 4500 and he said that for right now that is all they have spect out for them is the 5.13 gears. He is going to give me first dibs on the first seven from the pool. I am thinking it will probably be with in the next month.

Thanks for info Matt,

I may wait it out and see if some taller more roadable gears show up. I will let you know when the time comes to purchase.

Matt,

Is their going to be more than one manual tranny option too? Personally I would like to see one of the spicer/fuller/eaton 7 or 9 spd tranny's with a low gear in the 8 or 10-1 range, with preferably an O/D, but if a tall enough axle gear is availible, like 3.73's, a direct drive tranny would work too.
On the other hand an allison 3060 tranny would work too, a better load moving lower overall first gear than the 1000 series.
I'd like an over all low ratio such that I can pull about 30K up a 35% grade, and still have the engine turning about 18-1900 rpms at 60-65 mph.
Bed size, I'm thinking 10' with very little overhang of the spring hangers, about a 72" CA IIRC for that spec. I pull a trailer with a pintle hitch, and need that hitch to be as close to the axle as I can for the best handling.
Top speed is not a key thing for me, it's "not getting stalled" on the 20-30% grade driveways I move my equipment trailer into yeards that I landscape here in the NW.
