Two questions?
1) Where in the heck is this thing in the truck. The dealer charges $25 to change it and $15 for the filter. I'd rather do it myself.

2) Where can you buy them online? No one seems to have it locally.

Thanks.

The filter is located in the duct on the passenger side floor area.

Amsoil lists a filter for the cabin air. The # is AF1114. It wasn't in their online order catalog so I don't know what the price is, but I'd bet it's less than the dealer. I haven't ordered one yet, but will soon.

Get ahold of Greg Landuyt (greg@lubespecialist.com ). I'm sure he can help you get your hands on one.

just remember that there are TWO of them in there. You pull the first one straight down. Then reach in and you will find another one directly to the rear (towards the front of the truck) of the one you just pulled out. Pull it towards you until it is in the position of the first one you took out.... then pull it straight down and out. Installation is just the reverse.. put the first one in, slide it towards the front of the truck, then install the second one.

I tried every auto parts store around here and no one lists them. A friend of mine owns an auto repair shop so I purchased them thru him. His cost from the dealership for a "cabin air filter kit" (contains both filters) was #21.00. Seems kinda expensive, but when I pulled out the old one's with 16months on them, they were NASTY. But the evaporator core looked brand new with absolutely no dirt on it. Those filters do a good job.

The filter is located between the blower and the evaporator core. I don't know about our HD's, but on my wifes 01 Yukon XL, you have to remove a kick panel (hides all the A/C machinery under a nice smooth panel) first and then remove the band that holds the filters in place.

Good luck.
