I put an invincashield on my white '01 8.1/A GMC 2500HD after I got two chips on the hood before I had it a week. I was thrilled with it.

I tried to put another one on my new BLACK truck and it looks terrible. There are what looks like teeny-weeny bubbles splotched everywhere. These bubbles are much too small to try to chase out or drain by puncturing with a needle. The needle prick would be as big as the bubble. They are so small they wouldn't be noticable if they weren't in patches grouped together on a black truck. (I also creased the film in a couple of places trying to smooth it down with the squeegee.)

The install didn't go as smoothly as it did on my '01 and I had to pull it back up a few times. I'm wandering if that made the adhesive unsmooth and so there's tiny voids underneath. Maybe I used too much of the solution in the mix and so it was more bubbly than it should be? Maybe it was the same on my '01 and these spots didn't show up since it was white.

I'm glad I've got something on there so I can quit worrying about hood chips in the meantime, but I've ordered another one to try again($$$!). Has anybody had this same problem or installed one of these on a dark color with good results?

^...I did an install on mine. Watch the video and follow instructions. No way to get too much solution, however, you have to squeegie it ALL out from under the film completely. My suggestion would be to start near the (center) edge of the hood and work up and out, toward the windshield and fenders, respectively. Worked for me and I am very pleased with the product quality but more so for the exceptional functionality of the product (along with the low-profile Lund shield).

Post script: Two people make it easier, so cut the provided squeegie in half and work from there. Patience... !!!

What color is your truck? Isn't it victory red?

I'm not doubting the product quality. I loved it on my '01 and I'm positive that the problems I have are because of my install. I had somebody help me on the '01 and I had watched the video. I figured I could do it on my own and forego the video since I had experience this time. I guess I was wrong.

I was just wandering if anybody else had these problems and what exactly I did wrong so I'll be more careful next time.

It's not possible to get the solution mix too soapy? I thought the tiny bubbles may be suds I can't chase out. I also thought maybe I screwed up the adhesive by pulling the thing off a few times. I don't think I ever pulled anything up after it was stuck down when I installed on my '01.

NutNbutGMC,

Which low-pro Lund bugshield do you have? I have heard that the "interceptor" is the "low profile" shield. Is this what you have? Thanks.

Hey Fightin man,

Quit wandering around and stop wondering(thinking)about how to do the install and watch the video. :D You probably did not have enough solution on the hood and therefore, left beaded adhesive on the hood, creating the...tiny bubbles....in the hood... makes you unhappy...makes you not feel fine... :D just kidding about the song!

I didn't have too much difficulty installing mine but like your prev experience on white, mine is white also. I think you really need to call that 1-800 number in the instructions that came w/it. I did and they're great folks and are really helpful.

From my experience, (as well as the video instructions) you can't get too much solution. The color was Black? Isn't there a heat or temperature caution that applies? I think there is (also think there was a 24/48hr cure during which one might want to avoid exposure to heat/sun). I've had to lift mine a few and it harms it not. JMO, read & follow the instructions and call 'em up. I've a good feeling about this. ~ odoh

I was told by the guy that installed mine that it takes a couple weeks to cure. I had a few small spots but I believe they are gone now. Leave it in the sun to help it cure.
