does anyone know if the factory got around to using cd players play MP3s yet?

No, the factory CD player doesn't play mp3s. I bought an aftermarket CD/mp3 player for the head unit.

the mp3 players from the factory probably wont be available for at LEAST 2 model years. Dont hold your breath.

You can get an aftermarket headunit that playes mp3's for MUCH less then you think. And with the easiness of todays connectors you can buy, it is SIMPLE as hooking up a trailer to the back of your truck! In ALL honesty, you can have it connected and installed in less than 20 minute.
