I saw a 2500HD today with a lift on it. It looked like he had blocks under the back and done something to the front "besides" crank the torsion bars.
Anyone have any ideas or have a lift like this? Where can I buy one? I can install it myself if it ain't too much trouble.

It's probably simmular to the RCD 6" lift, like I have on mine. Check their products @ racecardynamics.com. I am very happy.

I have a buddy who works for a 4x4 shop, he installs lifts on trucks all day long and said that GM trucks are the worst to lift. They have problems keeping them aligned and they eat up the tires afterwards. He told me if you get the GMC don't lift it, if you must lift a truck get the F**d, he never has problems lifting them.

I found out that the guy with the lift works at the same Refinery that I do. I will try and find out what all he did. I don't plan to just jump off and get a lift. Lots of studying before hand.

I have Rancho's 4" lift as I did not want the heigth of a 6" lift or the problems that sometimes go with it. Lift has been on for 20,000 miles with 45,000 on truck. Truck has not needed alighment since new nor has had any other problems. Works perfectly, same ride as stock heigth, and handles extremely well. Bilstein shocks, of course.
I have a 6" Superlift on my truck. Right at 20k miles now, and absolutely no problems smile.gif Truck rides great, handles well, etc., and I have not experienced ANY alignment problems. I'm runnning 315/75/16 BFG's, and they are wearing well. No chopping or uneven wear on 'em. Only problem I am having is that pesky rear wheel spin/tire burn with the Predator 100hp tune! Just make sure you keep an eye on the air pressure, and rotate occasionally, and you should be fine. I wouldn't suggest the lift as a do it yourself, though, unless you have a lift and some experience. The IFS is pretty tricky on a GM, and a 4x4 shop w/ experience is the best way to go IMO. Good Luck, DinoMax

Hi Ranger:
I'm running a 6 inch ProComp lift with SuperSwamper 37's and have had no problems whatsoever (around 10k miles now). I just had the triple-shock setup installed on the front; I'll post a few pics whenever I get her cleaned up. I do agree that you MUST have confidence in your installer when lifting these IFS trucks!

Ranger, I have an 8" CST lift with 37" tires and have had no problems. Let me take that back the only problem I have is getting in and out of the darn thing(soon getting the Kodiak Sidewinder Steps). So far I have had no problems with alignments or uneven wear. As long as you stay on top of your rotations and air pressures you should be ok.

You guys are getting up there. I pull gooseneck trailers from time to time and don't want to get the truck too tall. I will probably put a 4" lift on her when I do it. I was wondering how hard it is to install also. I am pretty good with a torch and welding machine and didn't know what all the installation involved.

I purchased my 4" Rancho installed on the vehicle, but no welding or cutting was done as the shop does not do that type of work. Seems to be all bolt on or off. Lift is probably a must. Mine was installed by a teenie bopper who knew less than nothing. He screwed up the routing of the ABS lines, which broke in the first 1,000 miles, and they had to buy two new senders with lines as you cannot splice the wires on these according to GM. One other VERY IMPORTANT thing - TORQUE all bolts in assembly, and after 1,000 miles or so, RETORQUE! I demanded they torque when installed, and made them retorque later - sure enough, a couple had loosened. Other than that, no problems with 20,000 miles on it including a lot of fast off road. VERY STABLE at speed. Using 305E nitto's for tires - very happy with those.

Gardnerteam-- what model bilsteins are you using with the Rancho lift?

Don't know what model Bilstein - supposedly the HD I could buy. I bought them through a major tire dealer because the original ones they put on with the kit failed in 5,000 miles and I very strongly suggested they eat them as I had specified Bilsteins when I put on the lift kit and they put on this other commercial crap. When they ordered the Bilsteins, I LOUDLY specified the heaviest they could buy. They may or may not be, but they do work, have held up like all my Bilsteins before, and I'm happy with them. I will crawl under today and get part # F&R. tom

Bilstein shocks on my truck appear to be R5100 Series with front # BE56135T5 and rear BE56134T5. Hard to tell because there is so much dirt and filth on the shock.
