Well, I procrastinated long enough about replacing my burnt out useless combo driving fog lamps and finally ordered a new air dam and 520 series in chrome finish.......Got it thru Central4wd.com $450 delivered, best price I could find......Probably take 2 weeks to get here since my tree hugger buddies are trying to find a recycled cardboard box to ship it in?
I know a few have done it and a matter of fact there is a Gray HD that looks assume which has swayed me to do it, in addition MDRAG, which has all the goodies we want......Who is that D-Max guy?Where are you GRAY-MAX?Of course MDRAG your advice is always appreciated so please fill me in..... I did an exhausting search to no avail for any kind of info.......
So my initial questions are you able to wire using the existing switch in the dash? Can one retain the stock wiring after the relay is hard wired with a full 12 volts? How would one go about it? Or how did you do it? Thanks in advance......

Hey Mac, I found a listing for lights by Pilot that are supposed to fit on the oem mounts and fill the hole in the air dam. I will be ordering them soon to see if they really work.

I too am interested in the wiring details.

All Right I searched and searched,my eyes are bugging out of my head led me to here....

So Mdrag and Motovet your up to bat.......Please inform me how you guys wired yours.....Mdrag you said there is a relay on the stock foggers? Help ..........

Also there is a link to where the JK light harness all began (silverbullet), kinda nostalgic......In that thread (14th post down) Mdrag says, I'll let him tell it.......

=>Quote:Take hoot's advice and get the kennedy 4 lamp harness and 70/100 bulbs - THESE LIGHTS PUT OUT AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. If you are not satisfied with these lights - I will CEASE AND DESIST WITH ALL FUTURE PLANNED UPGRADES TO MY TRUCK CAUSING MYSELF MUCH PERSONAL PAIN AND GRIEF (although my wife will applaud loudly)!!! <= End Quote

So help me buddy or I'm dragging over to the BULB Popping thread, and you just might have to take some mods off and send my way......We'll check posting dates if it comes down to it.......LOL

Here Here Mackin'! I agree...I hate popin' bulbs! I just threw down for a new headlight ($140) and ordered some different bulbs...so i guess we'll see again..

i wonder if i can send Hella a bill for my new headlight since it was their poorly-manufactured bulbs that first spewed junk inside my lens!!! :D

mackin,

I've been out of town since Friday and just returned.

As far as the PIAA lights, I cut off the factory fog light connector and spliced on the PIAA connector (for the 959 lights), so the factory circuit/switch is used. The wiring diagram for the fog light circuit shows that a relay is present - I did not try to physically locate that relay.

The PIAA 80 Pro XT driving lights are wired using the PIAA harness, relay, and switch.

I hope that is the info that you seek :D

Mac, sorry I didn't answer your post. I haven't been over here on the accessories board much and I didn't see it. Understanding wife has been less so in the recent months. I wired mine the same as Mdrag did and it workes fine. Only downside is they only work with the low beams. How did it work out for you. Adding another set on the inboard openings?

motovet,

Oh it worked out great........I went with the Driving Lights, bright enough so I don't need the headlights at night.......Got them aimed real good so I have yet to be flashed......Might affect some low ridding RICERS, but so what........They toss there coffee can muffler, I'll shut my spot lights off......I'm waiting to pull up behind one, have them pull over, and they put there hands where I can see them.... tongue.gif

More lights in my future? Only if I run into a problem with the locals with colored lights on the roof, and I switch lenses to fog, I might add some different driving lights......Till then, right now, they look and work excellent......

Sounds good! What I want to add is some GOOD back up lights. I have been keeping an eye out for just the right set but have not seen any I like so far. It would be nice if they could double as blinders for the occasional deserving individual!
