View Full Version : Bad Bed Cover Experience

Bought a bed cover that looked pretty good on how it was built and operated. Three pieces, two that are hinged and they lock to the bed but can be completely removed in seconds. Great idea but no customer support or product support. A friend a work bought one after I did and he's experienced the same problem. The cover cracks in the corners and begins to fall apart. He called a rep from the company yesterday and was told the pannels are not warrantied.....only the hinges and locks.

He could replace the pannels at cost. The rear opening pannel is $138 plus $102 shipping....$240 total. The whole cover with shipping was $569. The rep explained that, that was the best he could do.....for a four month old piece of junk cover!

Their are three of us in the area with the same problems......So beware D-Max people.....do not buy an Aerocover by International Liners. It will crack and fall apart. They are sold at many sites including Cabela's.

Sandman,
I have one on my 2001 that is doing the same thing. I'm shopping for a new one for next summer. Hopefully this one will hold out that long. Not sure what I want. But I've been looking at this one www.topupcamper.com But it is a little pricey.

Sandman,

If you bought your cover through Cabela's they will probably warranty it and get you your money back. I use them a lot, have had a few wierd returns and always been satisfied.

Good luck,

Bob

Jake99Z71,

What kind of price are you looking at for that cover???? Can you drive down the road with it partially or fully extended for big loads?

Thanks for your input,

Sandman

son of a gun,

You are right about Cabela's...to a certain point. These things will continue to crack and Cabela's will draw the line eventually. They did replace a pannel for my father...free of charge. So Cabela's is a stand up company!!!

I bought my cover through a truck accessory outfit in CA. I don't expect them to step up to the plate for an inferior product...they shouldn't have to.

Just thought ya'll should get the scoop on this bad company and poor product....spend your $ elsewhere.

Sandman,
You can run with this cover at cab height with a warranty. If you run above cab height you are your own warranty. I talked to the company about this and they said it wouldn't be a problem running 65mph above cab height if you tie the cover down. The price is the killer. I think he quoted me $1400. Plus you can get a key fob for remote access and a camper addon.

Mike,

The rest of the truck is GREAT!!! This past monday I put the deep pan on, changed the filters and filled Mr. Allison up with Transynd....Thanks to Matt..SoMNDMax and his guidance.

It was truly an honor to meet you and your family...wish we had more time to talk and check out your awesome truck. I'll be in Elk Grove,WV at the end of the month....for a few days. Is this far from you?? Thinking we could visit again!

Take Care,

Sandman

Jake99Z71,

Thanks for the info. on that cover. You're right about the price. But if it'll hold up...... I just need flexibility to haul taller loads...that's why I thought the quickly removable pannels were groundbreaking.....all that is breaking is the pannels!

Thanks Again,

Sandman

Mike,

No trailer nor camper....yet. Will be stating in a motel. I'll have to check out how far away I'll be. Maybe we could arrange to meet again.
