I am looking for an exhaust system for my Dmax. Something with a little more growl and a lot more kick then what the stock ststem offers. Any suggestions?

I just installed the Kennedy 4 inch exhaust on my Dmax last weekend and it gave it a much improved and louder grumble. And when you put your foot into it, the grumble turns into a roar.

Before installing the new exhaust, while driving down the road, all I could hear was sound from the engine. While that's not all that bad, with the new exhaust, I can hear the exhaust sound equally with the engine sound from inside the cab, windows up.

Not objectionable at all and no resonance at any speed/rpm. But I'm the kind of guy that will turn the radio off so that I can hear the sounds coming from the truck rather than tunes on the radio.

Hammer ,

BANKS ........MONSTER EXHAUST .........

Found to be a quality system ..All pipe type 409 Stainless.....NOT aluminized.....All though it sounds near stock at idle it offers a very Nice "deep" roar....... Lurk around and find a "DMAX DIVA" post she has some sound clips of the Banks........I really enjoy the sound it omits ,not offensive at all.......

MAC :D

Here ya go, Hammer Down...

Mackin's right, a quality system all the way.

Interesting mods list on your signature...any chance of posting pics for us to enjoy? I just gotta see a DMAX with neon...don't think that's been done before, at least by anyone on this forum. ;)

I took a little more inexpenseive route...just replaced the muffler with a Dynomax. I am very pleased with the sound...sounds like a truck now!

The stock exhaust system is 3.5" and I couldn't justify the $$$ for a full 4" system given I am not doing alot of towing. IMHO...The 4" would allow for lower EGT's, but so does backing off the go pedal a little! If I decide to go with a 4" system later, the muffler I put on will easily mesh with a 4" system.

Hammer Down,

Welcome aboard and congrats on the truck!!

Neon, huh? It does sound interesting, I'd love to see it.

I'd recommend the Kennedy 4"/5" exhaust. It starts out 4" at the band clamp. No 5" tip, actual 5" pipe from the muffler back. If you wanna see pics, look at Mdrag's pics here:

If it's good enough for Mdrag's truck, it's good enough for mine. To say he does his homework is an understatement. ;)

I'm very satisfied with the Kennedy system. Check it out at www.kennedydiesel.com. (You'll have to copy and paste.)

Hey fellas, thanks for the great info on the exhaust. DMAXDiva, I am working on the pics. Thanks again.

FYI, I snapped a picture recently of a big ol rust spot on an OEM "stainless" system. In fairness, the truck appeared to be a dealer demo/plw truck, but it still had the sticker in the window...

John,

Why do your exhaust manifolds look like cast aluminum? Are they coated?

They look good. Guess the idea is to hold the heat for more boost?

Just put the banks on last night and am very impressed. Not too much louder than stock. When you step on it you know its there and it sounds great. Very easy install also only about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Good luck!
