I live by the seat of my pants and thats how I test stuff ! Johns headlight harness ROCKS period. Better than oem quality and performs as well as it is constructed. You even get a realy kool Kennedy Diesel sticker I'm gonna stick to Mackin's rear window ! Now, bulbs are a different story. A good half of the bulbs out there are junk ! Tried APC and Eurolite 80/100 they call them super white I call them super blue. Blue tinting is way too dark and robs so much light the stock bulbs with stock harness lights the road better. Sylvania Silverstars are an excellent choice and throw off an awsome color with out robbing much if any light. My personal favorites are Eiko Super H H.I whites 80/100's. They have a very light blue tint to produce an intensely white bright light with just a hint of blue. Cheap too ! These bulbs combined with Johns harness actually makes you squint on highbeams on a dark road ! I did not try Johns bulbs but being a clear bulb they may be even a tad brighter than mine I just prefer the color of mine. No, this is not a Kennedy Diesel advertisement, hell, I dont even like the dude, I dont like anyone who takes my hard earned money ! LOL ! So there it is my seat of the pants test, no voltmeters, ohmmeters, micrometers, ect. Just my 20/20 vision big browns.

I agree with you about Kennedy's harness and also about not likely JK since he takes my money!! And I want to give him more too!!

As for the bulbs. I've been looking at the Silverstars but your endorsement of the Eiko's interests me. Where do you get them?? I checked their website and am not sure which bulbs you are refering to since they don't have one called Eiko Super H H.I white.
Thanks

I've had the harness for about a year. Very pleased with the results. I've got Silverstars for low beams. They produce a sharp, white light. Very dramatic difference compared to the stock halogen bulbs with their yellow light. I've got some Hella Optilux Xenon 100W high beam bulbs. Not quite as white as the silverstars, but much less yellow than halogens. The silverstars cost about $25 a piece locally, paid $25 for a pair of the Hellas on the internet. By the way, the site I ordered the Hellas from also carry 130W 9005 bulbs, but I've never heard of the manufacturer (ichibahn - I smell ricer). Only $12 bucks a pair. May order some when I have to replace the Hellas just to see. Does anyone think that much wattage could produce enough heat to melt the housings?

SWLA,

I know the 100W Phillips bulbs put out some heat  I have not heard of any melted HL housings with 100W bulbs. My HL housings are fine with over 1 year of use and 70W/100W bulbs :D

130W may be pushing it...You be sure to let us know ;)

Stopped at AutoZone store in Lacrosse and price on Silverstars was just lowered to 19.95 each plus a rebate of 10.00 on a pair.Got to get some as the deer are really on the move now.Sounds like JKs harness kit is a worthwhile purchase.

I also have the JK harness. Phillips blubs, 85w lows, 100w highs. Ive had them in now for 6 mos and no problems. I do like the light they throw when all 4 are goin.

Thanks Todd

Good site. Better info than the Eiko website.

I was at our Autozone in S.C. the other night and the SilverStars were 29 apiece.

Yeh, they are pricey little buggers but are coming down. Seen them as low as $21.00 and someone mentioned a $10.00 rebate.

The Sylvania website lets you print out a coupon for the rebate. Have them sitting right here. smile.gif

FWIW, I started with the Phillips, tried Hellas (STD AND Optilux) and now have over $2k worth of bulbs going back to Hella because in my experience both the std halogen high watts AND the Optilux are pure junk!

Back to the std Phillips Rally bulbs @ < $20ea and performance BETTER than most...
