I upgraded my head unit and speakers to Alpine......Looks good and is of excellent quality.....Speaker install was the simpliest, even with removing old tweeter and custom installing upgraded ones, with crossovers.....No splicing,or cutting of factory wire harnesses, including speakers.....
The head unit with Onstar Interface (a box 1/2" x 2" x4"(?) and the thick bundle of wires which included a choke coil, in line fuse, seperate line to inside fuse panal for accessory, and 8 mm power and ground wires due to the direct necessary power(from engine compartment fuse box terminal) for the built in amp (30 rms,60 watt per channel), proved quite challenging to push back into the dash, while retaining ALL stock connections, just splicing the pigtails provided to receiver and have NO rattles......It was doable, but it was a b!tch, took more time then it took to do both rear speakers ,which are cake to replace.......
Onstar works all most like stock....The only exception is you cannot adjust volume of call.....This setting is preset and done, by the installer, while installing the unit....Otherwise works terrific....
I took only but a few PICS (in More D/A PICS) as the majority of the time I was sitting and in pain due to a back injury, which in it self proved to be challanging, but since it was warm and I was home proved the best time to accomplish the task at hand, never rushed and plenty of brakes in between.....
Next, External Amp and sub woofer at a later date......
Now for you electronic wizards I have an 84 Olds that I got from the original Elder Nonsmoker smile.gif with 80K on the speed-o,with all maintanence records and oringinal delivery book lits and owners manuals...You could eat off the interior in this car no rots or dents, every thing oringinal, few power accessories, nice crasher when I don't want my truck to get dirty.... ;) ..What a find......
I want to put the Delco out of my truck in it...It will fit but where could I get a stock pigtail to come off receiver to splice into and or connect to the Olds wiring harness?
Crutchfield could sell me it in reverse, Olds pigtail to receiver but there is no wires on the Delco from my truck as they are connected to onstar inter face.....
Any Ideas???
