Today was the second time in a month that I've had the same fuse blow. Not some little 5 amp for the radio mind you, A 50amp square fuse under the hood. It's a central buss fuse that feeds the right windows and the 8-way /heated seats .The first time was a real pain, knowone in the area had one. GM went from the Maxi fuse to whatever these squar one are for 03. The fact that none of the GM dealers, not just GMC, within 125 miles of me had one tells me this is not a common problem. I also checked ALL the local parts stores for these fuses, nothing! The service manager at my dealer said he'd never heard of one of these trucks blowing any fuses, let alone a 50 amper like that. I've seem bad fuses before and dismissed this as just that, a bad fuse. Since they didn't have a fuse at the dealership or anywhere close for that matter, they pulled one out of another truck and put some on order. They also had me take the truck in for a day and tried to find out what was wrong. They found nothing. Eveything was fine for the month between then and today. Same fuse blew again. This time my dealer had some on hand and gave me two new fuses. They still had 4 of the 5 they ordered the first time. The other one went in the donor truck. So if you read this far, have you heard of anything like this?

nope  Were you using any accessorries related to that fuse at the time? If not, happy hunting. I think i would keep changing fuses untill the short was happening more often. A short is hard to find when its not a dead short. You basically would have to search all the related wires one by one to see if it is pinched or some coating has worn off. Not a fun job! Even then it still could be a bad module or just about anyting related. If it is only doing it once a month and is not something like headlights or other safety equip, I would wait it out untill the short got worse. I know its not what you want to hear but I can pretty much guarantee that if the dealer can't duplicate the problem you are SOL.
BlueOx03,
From your sig, I see that you've added a few accessories - air horn and bypass filter. Not knowing the particulars of your installs and the time frame of your fuse problems - is it possible that you damaged a wire or overloaded a circuit?
I've seen pics of bypass filter installs where the bracket was bolted through the floor on the DS...and you mentioned the power seats on the affected circuit
I kept blowing a fuse for the cargo light and the dash indicator for the cargo light was staying on - this also caused havoc with my aftermarket alarm. I couldn't figure it out immediately - then thinking about my mods and "Where had I been lately?"....
I had installed lighted sunvisors a few months before. I found that I had pinched a wire on the PS when I reinstalled the visor. Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. I've actually got a pretty good dealer who's going to take it in again next week, take some trim panels for and see what they can find. I'm thinking is something pinched somewhere from assembly, rather than something worn out. The truck was just built in March, but that doesn't mean something hasn't got scraped up.
I added the air horn and dual bypass after the first time. The dual bypass is mounted to the frame with the bracket from lube specialist. I wired in the air horn with a relay on a separate circuit. As a professional stereo installer I know my way around vehicle electronics pretty good.
I could probably find the source of the problem myself, but I don't think I should have to figure out what's wrong with my three month old $48K truck. I would rather them take things apart and pay for any possible broken parts as a result. Lets face it, our trucks have a lot of plastic in them.
This is a great place to find solutions to problems with these trucks. However I was just wondering if anyone else has had or heard of a similar problem. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for the help.
Thanks,
TJ
