I am confused, what is the benefit of ordering from GMpartsdirect.com when after you add their S&H charge, its cheaper to go to the dealer?
I was just about to order the DuraMaxDiesel emblem, some lights, and overhead console blanking plate. They where going to charge me s&H on each INVDIVIDUAL item, not the whole order. ThHey want $7 S&H for the emblem . . . something that will fit in a regular envelope. . . What gives?
SO I guess its either sux it up, or go the dealer or do without :(
Anyone have a better source for getting parts?

If you read thteir FAQ about thte S&H charges, they discuss that it is where they cover the costs associated with doing the business, not just the S&H. Therefore, the S&H is higher than regular S&H.
As far as buying parts from them, I agree it is cheaper (or more cost effective) to simply run to the dealer. That is how I got my Duramax emblems. Be sure to shop dealers, though. I have found that prices from different dealers can vary dramatically.
I buy big $$ parts from GMPartsDirect. That seems to be where it becomes more cost effective. For example... I had to get a new headlight motor for my Firebird. It is a dealer only item. Cheapest I could find at a dealer was around $250 (list was around $300). I got it from GMPartsDirect for around $175. Even with S&H it was much cheaper than a dealer. I had the same benefit when I bought a new dash for my 85 Jimmy.
They aren't the answer for all parts, but for the high dollar ones they provide a benefit.
Yep, try http://www.superchevyperformance.com they are local to me so I pick up my parts. But they are cheap and dont charge out the azz for S/H.
Dont be fooled by the url name, I have bought lots of stuff for my DMax from them.
Great people to work with also

I ended up getting some from a local dealer who gave me a good rate on some, since I just had my truck fixed with them.
I guess they figured they made a few bucks off the insurance company from my accident.
I got a couple extra ones, so if anyone needs one, just email me direct. (You'll have to edit my email address since I dont like spam) andrew at fessler.com

GMPD is alot cheaper than one of my local dealers that sometimes charges up to 300% over GM List.
Hello, everyone. Does anybody remember the part numbers for the D-Max emblems. Are the numbers all the same? Thanx everyone.

I found a parts dealer out of Florida named Jasom Cromer. His shipping prices can't be beat!
I just ordered 4 painted to match door handles and a full set of carpeted floor mats for $200 shipped.
The door handle prices were $1 more than GMpartdirect but shipping was tons cheaper.
His number is 877-726-8295
