Does anyone have experience with a remote starter that will delay the actual starting enough for the glow plugs to heat up? Any recommendations on brands?

I think all the new vipers are capeable of delayed starting.

I have an auto Valet in my 2002D/A for the last 2 yrs and no problem at all. It does delay the start for the glow plugs to warm up before the truck starts. I believe mine is the low end of the viper line but not sure.

I installed the Bulldog Security remote start in my 98 6.5 and had no problems with it, until... I took the truck to the dealer to have the IP replaced and they said that my theft(passlock module was fried. They blamed it on two wires that had to be tapped into on the ignition switch. I really don't know if that was the problem or not. I actually believe the dealer did something to fry the module. Other than that the bulldog system seemed to work great.

I just had an Astrostrat 5204 installed and it has the delay. I have installed the high idle feature with 850, 1250, 1750rpm range select, the dealer told me the only rpm range that they could set was 850. I don't buy that but haven't been able to find any info yet. Thanks

I have the Compustar and it works great. It has a 3000' range and hasn't failed me yet. Originally the installer had set the timer for 45sec's but I had him lower it to 7secs.

I have a Crimestopper remote start. It is wired to the "Wait to Start" indicator, and cranks the starter as soon as the light goes out. This way it starts right away when the engine is already warm and/or when it's really hot outside.

It also features a FM 2-way remote, so the range is excellent and my fob vibrates to let me know that the truck was successfully started.

I installed my own on my 2002. I used a DEI Valet system, and it works very well. I have thge upgraded antenna (XHFplus) and have excellent range.

I had a Viper LED installed by Doug and Chris at www.auto-D.com (http://www.auto-D.com) and after seeing the work that these guys do, I wouldn't do my own again. Truth is, I'm considering taking my 2002 over to them so that they can straighten out the birdsnest of wiring that I have...
