I'm wanting to get a cover for my pickup bed and was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to some good ones. I'm leaning towards a folding hard cover. I've got a 2500HD LT3 CC D/A SWB. We get quite a bit of snow up here in NH and don't really feel like hauling it around ... especially after a Nor'easter.

Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I have a plastic bed liner which goes up underneath the side (instead of over it).

I just purchased a folding retractable cover from http://peragon.com/ I am hoping to get it installed this weekend. A friend of mine has the cover and he loves it. With your liner going under the rail you will have no problems at all. This cover does not require any drilling.
I just got rid of my plastic bed liner and had the Line-x spray in done.

I have a RETRAX (http://www.rolltopcover.com) roll top cover that works really well (bought mine from Kennedy Diesel (http://www.kennedydiesel.com)). It provides full access to the bed when needed and keeps the bed dry and secure when closed. I had a Pace Edwards on my last truck that worked well but I like the Retrax better. Also, all the of the Roll-up covers can freeze up if left out side.

For more info try seaching the forum for bed covers, Tonneau Cover, retrax, etc ..

I have an Access cover. http://www.accesscover.com/
I bought this for a 2001 truck and am currently using it on my 2004. I tow a 5th wheel and it will roll up out of the way when towing and keep stuff out of the bed when not towing. Snow, ice or cold have never been a problem (-25 in winter).

I have the GM folding hard cover, ordered it with the truck. Had it just about a year now. It is the same as the Fold-a-Cover ( http://www.fold-a-cover.com/ ).

It works fine and has been very convenient. I can open either the front quarter or the back 3 quarters. When the back is open, they stack on the front and you can strap them in place so they don't bounce around while you're driving.

Before I ordered with my truck, I looked at one they had just installed at the dealer. The sales guy sat on the cover and didn't bend or damage it, but personally I wouldn't do it.

I saw a couple of issues with the dealer install so I installed mine myself. The hardest part was making sure everything was lined up before tightening things down.

When the cover is closed, it also locks the tailgate.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I actually went looking around [the net and the area] and settled on the peragon cover. It looked to be the best for my applications and needs.

Thanks again for your help, everyone.

I had the paragon cover and did not like. I ended up selling it for a fraction of the price. It did not live up to their claims. It also faded and peeled. I would never buy from them again after their BS claims on the phone.

I'm pretty impressed with the CheckMate fiberglass tonneau (http://www.thedieselpage.com/reviews/checkmate.htm). Low cost, easy to install, and looks great.

I have a Pace Edwards on my '01. Doubt I'd buy another one (tedious to install, too expensive, too fragile, requires maintenance, takes up too much room in the bed).

I went with the Retrax and found it to be SO much more than my old Pace Edwards. In fact, I liked it so much I bought the company. ;) Oh that's another guy who did that. Well, I signed on as a dealer anyhow, and have many happy customers nationwide...

Well, the cover arrived yesterday. I installed it today. It took about 8 hours, but that was with several interruptions and by myself. All total, it was about 6 hours of work, but it was fun. No installation issues. I have a plastic liner (for now), and installed the "L" brackets behind the liner. I just drilled a hole through the liner. The washer on the outside seems to have sealed the hole on each of the bolts. Eventually, I may replace the liner with a spray in liner ... but that's a ways down the line. Everything seemed to match up and seal well.

What were the issues that everyone had?
