I am going to be installing my gauges soon. I have the tan interior in my truck. Anyone with a source or idea on paint to match? I'm told GM does not have an interior paint to match. Any other painting tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

A retailer that sells auto paint can match about anything if you bring in the oem pillar.

Thanks for the help. GMC-2002-Dmax, I may take you up on your offer. I will check locally this week so you won't have to go thru the hassle for me. If I don't have any luck I will get in touch with you. Thank you for the offer.

Your local auto body shop should have this paint. Actually, its not paint, its a dye. It cost me about $15.00 for about a pint.

Dawg,
A good auto body paint supplier will have premixed paint from SEM. This stuff matches very well. If they don't have it they can mix some interior lacquer that will match and put it in a rattle can. You should use an adhesion promoter, like "Bulldog" before you paint the plastic. This is not required, but it really works.

DAWG, as someone mentioned, the SEM interior paint seems to be a good match, I got mine at our local NAPA store for around $11

Thanks. I've been so busy at work that I haven't had time to do much checking. I would like to find something this week.

Is there a particular colour name for the matching paint for the grey interior? It would be nice to be able to just get a spray can and do it all in one shot.

Cowboy-
I remember a thread by member SoCalDMax about a year ago that gave the info you're after. Part no's and everything. He's always got good stuff on here.

Cowboy, my interior is (to me) a light gray, but my Silverado book lists it as "medium gray", and that is what the SEM spray can called it.

FYI for those with the Tan/Neutral interior. I beleive the color code number is 522. My local auto paint supplier looked this code up in the PPG book and got the paint code. They had some SEM pre-mixed, but when held up to the ash tray was a little off. The actual sample and number they looked up matched perfectly. They mixed me up 1/2 a pint. The can is marked...SEM Medium Dark Neutral #4950, WA 195A. It does not come in a spray can. I purchased a propellent unit that has a small glass jar attached to the bottom. I simply placed the paint in the jar, attached the upper propellent portion and sprayed it on. Perfect match!! 2 coats was enough. I first primed with BullDog. Bulldog was highly recommended by more than one person. At any rate for less than $25 total, I have a painted pod.

Thought I'd pass on the info and thank everyone for the tips. Worked great!!

Well, I painted my pod this weekend w/the SEM medium Gray from NAPA and it was not a good match so I'm going back to try again. May actually take the pod and factory A pillar along and try it there.?

I had my local paint guy mix what the book said would match. It was called light warm gray. The medium gray in the book looked way off. Well the paint he made me isn't anywhere near being close. It's way too light. Going back tomorrow to show it to him again! :(
