and not the one in my sig - it is mounted in the CD storage area behind the flip up door.

The cut out was tricky. A few months ago I replaced the OEM tape player with a bank of rocker switches and made a cut out at that time - since the switch bezel had a small border, it did not have to be a perfect cut out..

It turns out the radio was slightly taller and the same width as the cut out for the switch bezels. Used a combination of a Dremel tool, razor knife, sharp pocket knife, and front cutting pliers to enlarge and straighten up the cut out. I used the pliers the most.

As far as the added electronics, the Uniden BCT-7 scanner was removed from my '92 Suburban (before I sold it) and was looking for a home - the scanner is what got me started thinking..

I found the Magnum 257 at www.copper.com for $169 plus... ;)

In my haste to answer GBurton I forgot - Thanks for the compliments. I didn't check the email notification option when I started this topic...

If your truck has the tape player option - you should be able to replace it with a wide variety of electronics. Replacing the tape player and using the same bracket would not be too dificult - as long as the width is not more than 5 7/8" - 6" and the depth not more than 8.75" - 9" (the Magnum 257 is 6"W x 2"H x 9.75"D - the depth includes the heatsinks on the rear and the knobs protruding from the front). I could not get the radio to be completely flush (well I could, but more work) and IMHO, this style radio looks better protruding - I have it out an extra 1/4" - 3/8" than it needs to be.
