To run a 6.5 turbo with DB4 IP in a Toyota Land Cruiser conversion what is the minimum electronics needed for the engine alone?

Well, the DB4 is the mechanical pump, so you don't have the whole PMD system of the later models. The '98 and '99 Diesel Page books had articles on converting the electronic systems back to mechanical, but it doesn't look like those articles made it into the Combined 6.5 Book that is available now.

Those articles may be a good point of reference.

I thought the DB2 was the mechanical pump?

DB-2 = Mech pump, 2 pumping pistons.

DB-4 = Mech pump, 4 pumping pistons, for higher fuel rates.

DS-4 = Electronic pump.

Sorry guy's I made a C*&# up. redface.gif I didn't saw the pump before I asked the question.

Here is what's on the pump:

G5 DS 4831
Mod: 8317102

On the small black box: 34583 (Is this the PMD?)

The engine was imported as is so we not sure what year it is

I did a diesel conversion this summer installed a 6.5 td electronic into a 98 GMC K3500 was agas job I installed a complete harness in mine to make it work used Heath Computer with tha factory harness I also had to control the 4L80E transmission, I would suggest you convert to the Mechaincal fuel pump instead makes like much easier you than only have to run bear minium of wiring, power lead to fuel pump solenoid, power supply to the cold start switch you will have it install, I would look for wiring off the top of a P30 step van equiped with 6.5 it will give you all the wiring you would need when running a mechincal pump. I might even have one laying around i would give you as long as you paying shipping. hope this helps

Thanks for your help I pass it on.

Redbird2, I appreciate your offer for the wires but shipping to RSA would cost more than what it's worth.
