I went down to my local Vista paint store and asked them to match the graphite interior color using the original A-pillar plastic. They charged me $10 for a qt of paint and no charge for the matching. I used very little paint, and I think it came out great. I used one of those fill-it-yourself sprayers and the texture even matches very close.

It looked a little light at first, but once I was sure it dried, I used some protectant on it and it looks like the original. I'll post some pics this PM. Of course the digital camera will probaly make it look pink or something.

If anyone is close to a Vista paint store and is interested in the recipe, I can post it here. If anyone is interested in enough to paint the pillar pod, email me and I can mail you some in a baby food jar or some other container. The only charge is shipping. Figure $4 for USPS.

Email is socaldmax@cox.net. I'll reply with address and further info.

SoCalDMAX,
I am interested in the recipe. Don't think the Postal service would be too happy shipping paint up here.
Son of a gun,
Please Tell me about your "*SUBSTANTIALLY upgraded speakers".
Thanks to both...

AKDmax,

I'll post it tonight. If they're using a different brand of paint, it might not match perfectly, but if you're going in there anyways, you can drop off your ashtray or something and have them try to get it perfect.

AKDmax,

Here's the recipe for the graphite interior paint straight off the can:

B-2Y46
C-8
I-16
KX-40
D-12

It's a flat finish acrylic, you can thin it and clean up with water.

Good luck! Steve

My paint mixer place cannot work with Vista Paint code recipes. My area only can work with DuPont and PPG paints. Does anyone have the paint receipe for the graphite interior color with these?

Jim,

You could just take your ashtray in with you and have them match to that. It's pretty easy and should be no extra charge.

Off topic, but MGM, looking for details on your 3M paint shield. Did you get the entire kit, who from, cost? Are you happy with it? Do you have to have a clean & unwaxed surface or can it be applied to a waxed surface (for a little more protection)?

HDLD, most shops that supply window tint carry 3M hood protection kits, Invicta is one well known kit. It works great and is practicaly invisable. Goes on any painted surface, waxed or otherwise, best benefit no more rock chips. I paid $100 canadian installed.
